About the Author
Haruichi Furudate began his manga career when he was 25 years old with the one-shot Ousama Kid (King Kid), which won an honorable mention for the 14th Jump Treasure Newcomer Manga Prize. His first series, Kiben Gakuha, Yotsuya Sensei no Kaidan (Philosophy School, Yotsuya Sensei’s Ghost Stories), was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump in 2010. Volume 30 continues the Karasuno v Inarizaki fight and provides more information on what Karasuno was like in Tanaka and Nishinoya’s first year at the school. Largely the match is framed around Tanaka’s contribution to the match and the building growing excitement and anticipation for him to do something. Tsukishima continued to provide some voice for what was happening and Hinata, as usual, did likewise, though with more spunk and energy.The other half focused on Kenma and his background with Guts and Determination with Taketora and framed it around their match against a team that most people will forget (well I guess they will be remembered for being the team that played into Kenma’s scheme). In any case, it was a bit jarring to go from that epic Karasuno match to this, but it did eventually pick up steam, once it established more of the background.In any event the volume was largely exciting and worth it. Additionally, I think one could really make a claim of comparing the Tsukishima Tanaka relationship to Taketora and Kenma, oddly, and surprising, not Hinata.Extras included the usual portraits and drawings in between chapters.
